⚠️ Important: How to Choose Your Size
Measure the circumference of your chest at the fullest part of your bust, keeping the tape parallel to the floor. Compare your measurement to the size chart below and size up if you are between sizes.
What You'll Need
Main Fabric
Light to medium-weight, non-stretch, woven fabrics are recommended:
- Cotton or linen poplin
- Batiste
- Chambray
- Lightweight broadcloth
Note: The width of your fabric affects the fullness of the lower skirt and the collar ruffle. If your fabric is narrower than the recommended width, the garment can still be made, but the gathers will be less full than the original design.
Required Fabric Yardage
| Size | 54" / 137 cm wide | 60" / 152 cm wide |
|---|---|---|
| US 2 – US 4 | Not recommended ✕ | 3 yd / 2.8 m |

| ⭐⭐⭐ Intermediate | V-neckline bias binding, gathered ruffle collar, two-tiered skirt, set-in sleeves, French seam pocket option |
This pattern is suitable for sewists who are comfortable with basic garment construction. The neckline bias binding and French seam pocket steps are the most technical parts — YouTube tutorials are provided for both.
Key Techniques in This Pattern
1. Attaching Interfacing
Fusible interfacing is applied to the wrong side of both collar pieces before construction. Optionally, stay tape can be attached 1 cm (3/8") below the neckline seam allowance on the wrong side of the bodice to prevent stretching.
2. Making the Ruffle Collar
The collar ruffle is sewn along one side seam, pressed open, then folded in half lengthwise and gathered along the open edge. The gathered ruffle is pinned to one collar piece, and the two collar pieces are stitched together along the outer curve — leaving the neckline unstitched. The collar ends meet at the center front V without overlapping.
3. Neckline Bias Binding
After attaching the collar to the bodice neckline, the raw edge is finished with Extra Wide Double Fold Bias Tape. The bias tape is placed on the wrong side, stitched along the neckline, then folded to the right side and topstitched. At the V-neck point, the neckline is gently pulled straight to create a smooth U-shape. The neckline seam is then understitched to keep everything neatly secured to the inside of the bodice.

4. Sleeve Options
Short sleeves use a bias tape casing stitched directly onto the sleeve at the marked notches, with elastic threaded through and secured at the side seam. Long sleeves have a folded hem with an opening for elastic at the wrist. Both sleeve types are gathered at the sleeve cap and set into the bodice armhole.
5. Pocket Options
There are two ways to add pockets:
- Standard pocket (Step 4-1): The easier method. Pocket pieces are serged, placed on the skirt side seam, and topstitched in place before joining the front and back skirt.
- French seam pocket (Step 4-2): More advanced, but results in a beautifully clean finish with no raw edges visible inside the pocket. The pocket pieces are first stitched wrong sides together, trimmed, turned, and pressed before being attached to the skirt.

6. Two-Tiered Skirt
The skirt is constructed in two separate tiers — the Upper Skirt and the Lower Skirt. Both are gathered before being joined together, and the skirt pattern can be cut without printing, using the paper-free cutting chart provided in the instructions. If you want a longer skirt, lengthen the Upper Skirt only.
